illuminated manuscript

Time Commitment: at least two mornings/afternoons or one full day (8 hours)

Students: three to eight students at a time, preferably high school to adult, but mature middle school students who have a real interest could attend.

Location Requirements: a quiet space with good lighting (preferably natural light) in the home of someone who is willing to host the workshop or a church that is willing to let us use their parish hall or classroom space. We will need at least one large dining table, but it is preferable for students to have separate tables or desks if possible. We will also need access to a sink.

Atmosphere: I give instruction throughout the workshop, but the overall atmosphere is quiet and prayerful; I encourage students to pray the Jesus prayer with their breath, as monastic painters of illuminated Manuscript have done for ages, and we listen to chant of the psalms and the liturgy while painting.

Supplies/What to Bring: supplies are included. Bring an apron or wear painting clothes

Cost: an 8 hour workshop would be $100 per student, including supplies.
